Helen Hochstetter's Peter Pan
Early Learning Center of
Westmont is conveniently located in the Falcon Plaza, just south of 63rd
Street, on Cass Avenue. Our school is nestled in a peaceful Westmont
neighborhood, with bright and spacious rooms within.
Our unique "Village Room" consists of five special mini-rooms ~
sized just for kids and filled with dramatic play equipment that
sets their imaginations free! Children have the opportunity to:
become a carpenter in our "Busy Builders" shop; bake a cake or
cookies in our "Sweet Delites" bakery; become the cashier or go
shopping in our "Village Market"; create a new image in "Let’s Dress
Up"; or care for their furry friends in "Pets at the Vet". In
addition, there are shelves filled with educational games and toys ~
plus an entire area dedicated to children’s gross motor development.
Each class is given a scheduled time to explore the room each day.
This brightly colored room is an excellent place for the children to
enhance their learning, creatively express themselves, and interact
socially.
Our
spacious outdoors provide the children with two wonderful play yards!
The first outdoor classroom is a covered play space where the children
can get outside for fresh air and outdoor activities and be completely
protected from all of the various weather elements. The second
space, our backyard, spans the width of our center. This play yard
has full sun exposure and is filled with climbers, play houses, riding
toys, and a sandbox for the children to enjoy. Another special
area we have included in our sunny backyard is our "Learning Garden". Each year we have a
wide variety of vegetables and flowers growing in our garden. The
children learn about each plant and monitor it's growth and development.
As the children tend the garden ~ watering and weeding ~ they develop a
true sense of pride in "their garden". The children "work" and learn in their garden from early spring all the
way through late fall.
