What’s New - Building Up Steam

Peter Pan strives to make each child's daily experiences at school meaningful and memorable.  2019 is off to a “STEAM”ing hot start, as each of our schools implements our new “Building Up Steam” curriculum.  The latest preschool STEAM equipment available has been purchased and is being incorporated into every classroom. We are excited for our students to spend extra time each day exploring, investigating, and learning through Science - Technology - Engineering - Art & Math.

Peter Pan’s “Building Up STEAM” program is comprised of exciting hands-on STEAM activities designed specifically for young children.  While these experiences were already incorporated throughout the day, our early morning STEAM TIME will provide the children the opportunity to explore equipment focused on these curriculum concepts. For our younger learners, we’ll be “Tinkering With STEAM” as fun and exciting activities are presented to our Busy Bees and Todds as a building block into the STEAM program.

The National Association for the Education of Young Children gives great insight into the importance of STEM:  “The STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, math) offer many opportunities for children to use their minds and hands to play, explore, and learn. Research shows that giving children exposure to quality, hands-on STEM learning opportunities is so important and familiarity with STEM concepts early on is a key predictor of children’s school success.”  Visit www.naeyc.org/resources/blog/stem-starts-early for additional information."
