Peter Pan of Westmont Overview

Helen Hochstetter's Peter Pan Early Learning Center of Westmont is conveniently located in the Falcon Plaza, just south of 63rd Street, on Cass Avenue. Our school is nestled in a peaceful Westmont neighborhood, with seven beautiful, bright, and spacious classrooms.

Our unique "Village Room" consists of five special mini-rooms ~ sized just for kids and filled with equipment that motivates their minds or sets their imaginations free! Children have the opportunity to: become an author, or maybe a secretary, in our “Writing Center”; use their hands and imaginations in our "Mr. Fix-It" shop; grill some hotcakes, or eat some tasty sausage and eggs, in our "Egg-Ceptional Cafe"; create a new image in our "Dress Up" shop; or explore the world of science in our "Perky Pete” hands-on science station. In addition, there are shelves filled with educational games and toys ~ plus an entire area dedicated to children’s gross motor development. Each class is given a scheduled time to explore the room each day. This brightly colored room is an excellent place for the children to enhance their learning, creatively express themselves, and interact socially.

Our spacious outdoors provide the children with two wonderful play yards! Our outdoor classroom is a covered play space where the children can enjoy fresh air and outdoor activities and be protected from the rain and other weather elements. The second space, our backyard, spans the width of our center. This play yard has full sun exposure and is filled with climbers, play houses, sand tables, riding toys, and picnic tables.  We have included a variety of “Nature Centers” and “Learning Gardens” for the children to explore and enjoy.  Each year we have a wide variety of vegetables and flowers growing in our garden. The children learn about each plant and monitor their growth and development. As the children tend the garden, watering and weeding, they develop a true sense of pride in "their garden". The children "work" and learn in their garden from early spring all the way through late fall.  Our bird feeding station and bird houses provide enjoyment for our young bird watchers throughout the year.
